We are called to offer ourselves as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1). We are called to present ourselves as holy and acceptable to God because it's our reasonable service. But what does this mean and how do we do that?
Here are 3 ways to be a living sacrifice for Jesus:
1. Submit to God
"Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you." (James 4:7) When we submit ourselves to God, we naturally resist the devil. We resist the devil in our thoughts, actions, and lifestyle. Submitting to God is also a form of humility.
2. Surrender to God
"Then Jesus said to His disciples, '“If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me."' (Matthew 16:24) If you want to follow Jesus you must deny yourself. If you try to save your life you will lose it, but if you lose your life for the sake of following Jesus you will find it (Matthew 16:25).
3. Sacrifice
In order to be a living sacrifice for Jesus you must be willing to sacrifice for Him. Whether it be your time, money, resources, or whatever it is God is calling to sacrifice. You must be willing to sacrifice to follow Jesus. We no longer belong to ourselves, but to God.
