Called to Be Like Christ

As a Christian, you are called to be an example as Christ was an example to all. But what does that mean and how do you do that?

Jesus said, "Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets" (Matthew 7:12). We are called to do unto others, as we want to be done to us.

If you aren't being patient with someone, you can expect the same back. If you unleash your anger and wrath on someone, you can expect the same back. If you don't submit to someone in love, don't expect them to submit to you. Galatians 6:7 says, "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap."

We are called to submit to every living being. Whether it be the king, governor, parents, teachers, or bosses, we are called to submit (1 Peter 2:13-14).

Even Paul called Timothy to be an example to the church when he said, "Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity" (1 Timothy 4:12).

We are called to be the example. Be the change you want to see in other people. If you aren't willing to be the example, don't expect it from anyone else. That's called a hypocrite.

Be the example and don't lose heart because God says we will reap a harvest if we do not lose heart (Galatians 6:9).
